Thought it was about time that I posted on here…haven’t exactly been blogging much…especially this year!! Yikes, can’t believe it’s July already! It always seems that time passes so fast, and yet sometimes I seem to be wishing the time away – a bad habit that I really should stop. But I guess everyone does it sometimes, whether they’re waiting for the weekend to arrive…or a holiday in the not too distant future…or just to get through a busy period at work.
Been contemplating a lot lately, mainly about whether I want to carry on with the course at Uni…there’s pros and cons to staying and leaving: is it worth being unhappy for two more years or should I leave and follow other dreams? Maybe it’s naivety, but I couldn’t imagine not having any dreams to follow. Some people ask: but what happens when you achieve your dream? Well, then I’d say that you can bathe in the joy of having achieved that dream and chances are that other dreams will catch your heart. However, what happens when a dream you were so adamant on pursuing turns out to be a dream you don’t want to follow anymore? Do you walk away and risk regretting it? Or do you stick it out ’til the end and then pursue other things? I guess this is just something I have to think about this summer.
Another conclusion that I’ve reached is that maybe it’s what you DO with the degree that counts? Not so much what’s happening at the moment, in the throes of it all, but what happens afterwards…when you’ve passed graduation and are deciding what path you want to lead.
On a whim, went down to Cornwall at the weekend to visit a friend from Uni! Had a lovely time and found some inspiration that had been lacking from life lately. As always, I was snapping away with my camera so some of them may find their way onto here
Missing my big sis’ and her partner at the moment, they’re both up in the highlands for a month or so, working and “studying” hehe! Just popped up to their room upstairs (sorry guys) to poke my head out of the window and take a photo of the sunset! I always feel inspired up there, there’s an assortment of quirky postcards blue-tacked to the wardrobe, interesting books to stumble across and a huge collection of DVDs (don’t worry, I haven’t taken any…yet!) And at the moment, the room is spic and span – in contrast to mine which is bulging with clutter and boxes of stuff from my Uni room…need to put aside a few days for decluttering – does it ever end?!
Was looking through books on my bookshelf the other week and came across a couple of Jodi Picoult books that I’ve yet to read/started and gave up reading due to life’s distractions. One is ‘My Sister’s Keeper’, which is one that I started a couple of years ago and didn’t finish, so have resumed reading it now…then I may just have to find a subtitled screening of the film adaption at the cinema
I quite like Jodi’s style of writing, she portrays the events in the book from many different characters’ perspectives so that you can see how things affect everyone, not just one central character.
Ooo…my stomach is growling and I think there’s apple pie in the house…sound like a balanced dinner? Happy eating!

Hey lady!! Ooh I could do with some inspiration too – my room has that effect on people, yay. We’ve just had dinner here, Dan’s gone upstairs and I’m just on the internet on my laptop (we have wireless internet, which is fabby since I can use the laptop anywhere in the house!), whilst Dan’s parents watch Eastenders. I’ve managed to start planning my book and have written a bit more in chapter two. The course starts next week so I’m gearing up for that and hoping that I’ll enjoy it
We had Ryan last weekend, so it was a huge distraction and hard work – he’s very boisterous and demanding at this stage! We took him to a birthday party and then to the cinema to see subtitled Ice Age 3 on Sunday. It was his first cinema trip! He really enjoyed it, I think, although he was a bit subdued at the dark and quiet theatre when we first went in
We also went to see Craig, JP and Laura today, he’s three pounds heavier than he was when he was born. He’s really sweet, you can come and meet him sometime!
I’ve also got another blog (yeeess…I’m crazy) – this one for planning the novel and somewhere to post inspiration. It’s http://thenoveljourney.wordpress.com – no rush to read it, but if you want then go ahead!
I’m glad Cornwall was fun and inspiring. I can’t wait to see the photos! The one in your next post is really beautiful – can hardly believe it’s from my window at home!
Love you lots, email you soon hopefully xxxxxx
