Sweet Dreams Lucky.

31 Jan

Lucky, sweet Lucky, didn’t make it. I feel so sad; although s/he was only a few days old, s/he was still alive, still had a little heart, a little soul. Lucky was adorable, and could have grown into a beautiful rabbit. The fact is, though, that hand rearing newborn rabbits is rarely successful, but it was worth a try. It just wasn’t meant to be. Flower, the mama, didn’t want her babies, and really, she was the only one who could care for them. Their little souls are somewhere else now, and I’m sure they’re having sweet dreams. In the short time we had you, you were so lovely, Lucky. Rest in peace, you were loved.

365: Day 31

31 Jan

Been rather slow today; done a bit in my room, but mostly been on my laptop. At least I had a big mug of hot chocolate, with lovely words to inspire me. I got this mug for my mum a few years ago for her birthday, and I love it. Unfortunately, my sister loves it too…we probably all use it just as much as one another… Happy Tuesday to you all.

Lucky.

31 Jan

This, here, is Lucky. Isn’t she/he gorgeous? Such a sweetheart; when you feed Lucky, s/he sometimes curls up and falls asleep in your hand. It’s adorable. Maybe it’s just me, I have a real soft spot for animals, and if you give me a baby animal, that multiplies by 10 100. Kittens, puppies, baby rabbits…I love them all. So, Lucky, you have a real soft spot in my heart now; after feeding and cuddling you (gently!) last night, I really, really need you to survive this. You can do it, you’ve just gotta be strong. But you are lucky, you know, ’cause having Mona as your new mama…well…she’s lovely. Keep breathing…

See! You are simply lovely. Lovely, lovely Lucky. I’m lucky in love with you, Lucky. I know that you’re not very strong, and I know that you suffered a lot of trauma yesterday, but you’re safe now, and you’ve got a hot water bottle under your bed…and milk when you need it. There’s a lot of love for you, so get strong baby.

Here’s to you, Lucky, and hopefully I’ll be seeing your lovely little self again soon. Lucky, stay lucky, please.

365: Day 30

31 Jan

Yesterday morning, I was sleepy. It was a slow Monday morning; the boy went out to grab some food for himself, whilst I made myself some beans on toast (he was being picky), and I made us both some coffee. A little later in the morning, my phone started to buzz, with texts flooding in, from this lovely lady. One of her rabbit had another litter; all was well until yesterday morning, when the mama began to turn hostile towards her lovely babies. All died, except one; and now she’s going to try and hand rear her/him. We called the baby Lucky, and baby, you better survive this. In the midst of all this drama, we sorted out her room a bit more (still lots of boxes everywhere), and then washed our hair…and put masks on. And fed Lucky some more. Meanwhile, I got a text from home, proclaiming that the radiator in the living room had exploded. Literally. Exploded. Boom. Whoops. What a Monday…
