About Sarah

Stars and Rainbows was born on 30th August 2008. It is a place where I can record my random wonderings, thoughts and feelings about this, that and everything. There are many things I write about – photography, crafting, life, deafness, books, films, the blogosphere, adventures on the internet…pretty much anything that takes my interest and/or is happening around me. The blog has witnessed many of my thoughts, both good and bad; it has become almost like a friend to me, it’s a place I know I can turn to when I need to explore things. However, I also use this blog as somewhere to record my inspirations, as I am a very creative person, and the world inspires me!

A few things that I love:

♥ Taking photographs at any possible moment (I recently got a DSLR after years of lusting after one, so you can follow my adventures with my new companion)

♥ Hot chocolate in the evenings when it’s cold outside

♥ Exploring new places

♥ Candles of any shape and size

♥ Bike rides

♥ Dancing in the moonlight (the song, as well as actually dancing under the moon…)

♥ Cupcakes and tea

♥ Stumbling upon lovely blogs

♥ Going on random, free-style adventures around London

♥ Inspirational typographies

♥ Finding crafty projects on the web

♥ American-style diners, with jukeboxes and milkshakes

♥ Feeling the crunch of leaves under my feet in the Autumn

♥ Snow in the Winter

♥ Sunshine on a cool day

I sure am glad you have stopped by, and here’s to a great day. Happy reading.

Hi, I saw that you had been to my site and so I wanted to visit yours! My daughter will graduate from college this year with a degree in deaf education, so I took note of the fact that you are deaf. I just did a post on Helen Keller signing to her dogs! Nice to meet you and I will continue to visit your blog!

Hi, I saw that you had been on my blog so I wanted to visit yours! I also noted that you are deaf. My daughter will graduate this year with a degree in deaf education. Have you always been deaf? I just did a blog on Helen Keller signing to her dogs! I’ll make it a point to follow your blog!

Hello :) it’s always good to come across other bloggers you like/have similar interests with! I’ve been deaf since I was little, probably since birth but they didn’t pick it up until I was about 2. My older sister is also deaf, we were diagnosed around the same time. Will pop back over to your blog too, it was the Helen Keller post that drew me over to yours and I really liked it :) thank you for stopping by!

Hi! Found your blog and enjoyed reading it. I too have a cochlear implant. I actually play bass in a band. It was not easy…i had to make a lot of changes, but it can be done. Thats why I also started a blog.

    Best wishes in your journey!

Hey, glad you’ve enjoyed the blog :) I currently use two hearing aids, although I am interested in others’ experiences with cochlear implants…whether I’ll get one myself or not is something I’m still very unsure about! Will pop over and read your blog too. Thanks for popping over :)

    Hey Sarah!

As you know, I have been loving reading your blog. You are a beautiful person who writes wonderful, inspiring posts. Your Sunday Night Inspirations and various photographs take me someplace else. You have a beautiful writing style.
For this reason, I am nominating you for the Liebster Blog Award. The award is given to a blog with less than 200 followers that deserves a little more recognition. There are a few simple rules that go along with the award. They are as follows as passed on to me:

    1. Give a shout out to the blogger who nominated you by linking back to their blog.
    2. Nominate 5 other blogs with less than 200 followers.
    3. Spread the good blog karma.
Lastly, don’t forget to add the Liebster blog award image to your post.

    Best wishes.

        Hi there,

I found your blog by chance and it was a great read.

I am British but live in Tanzania and I run an orphanage (www.foreverangels.org)
I have 5 adopted children, the youngest who is profoundly deaf (age 4) I was searching the internet to find someone who wanted a Volunteer Opportunity in Tanzania to teach my daughter sign and work with her at school and work in the Orphanage.
Please pass this onto any BSL signers you know…
        Thanks,
        Amy

        Hello,

So glad you found my blog :) thank you!

I use BSL myself, and if I could, I’d jump at the chance to come and volunteer. I’ll pass this on to any signers I know though. Have you tried contacting the NDCS (National Deaf Children’s Society) or Action on Hearing Loss (formerly the RNID)? They are both UK organisations, but I’m sure they’d be able to give you some help in one way or another.

So pleased that your daughter has someone like you, who is willing to find the best possible opportunities for her. Learning to sign is a great thing, and it’ll really help her, I think :)

        Best wishes,
        Sarah x

Hello! How exciting, I always love to “meet” other deaf bloggers! Welcome to the blogosphere, and I’m glad you found my blog. Also find it exciting that you’re also in London…so perhaps we have crossed paths before? Here’s to the start of your blogging adventure, and, again, I’m really pleased you’ve come across my blog xx

      • emilysmarties March 7, 2012 at 10:40 am #

Yes I am sure we have crossed paths! Did you go to MaryHare? I am 27, so several years older than you. I know, really love this whole blogging malarky and can’t wait to add more to it, have a few ideas!
        xx

      • Sarah March 7, 2012 at 11:11 am #

Ooo, no, didn’t go to Mary Hare, although I went along for a few days in 2006 to see whether the Sixth Form would be suitable for me (was in year 11 at the time, so I went into lessons with them). I loved it, but decided not to follow through, as it would have been a tough battle with the council, and the ToD at my school said that she wouldn’t support me, and would stand against the decision to send me to Mary Hare if it went to tribunal…ah, it was a bit annoying at the time. But the long and short of it was that I didn’t think I could be away from home, and Chickenshed, at that time, because it played a big part in my life :) but I did absolutely love Mary Hare! How was your experience(s) there?

We may have crossed paths in London though? This is rather fun, attempting to see whether we have met before in real life!

Looking forward to reading more on your blog xx

Hello, I have a feeling you may already be an established blogger, but your blog reminds me to appreciate the little things everyday which I think is so important, so I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award :)
