Hello my lovelies. I know I have been absent for a little while, and Sunday Night Inspiration didn’t happen, but life has kept me busy. On Sunday, the boy and I drove down to Brighton for a little celebratory trip. We have been “us” for 5 years. Happily united in our weirdness. This is just a little post, to say that I am still here, and to share a couple of pictures that are now up there with my favourites; and I will be back very soon, once I have finished all my photo editing. I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend, full of smiles. Happy Tuesday!

Time in a beautiful place…

23 Mar

This weekend, I am in Norfolk. Currently, I am sat by myself, on a beautiful, sandy beach, enjoying the moment. “10 Things I Love” might be a little late this week; if I get a chance, I’ll do it over the weekend, or it might have to wait until I’m home on Sunday night. Wherever you are, I hope you have a lovely weekend; I am sure that I will.

365: Day 44

19 Feb

Monday was the first day of the project I was involved with for the last week…and Jenny drove us all to the school (every day was a different place). Being caught up in a new project, the only pictures I took that day were in the car when we were on our way… This is one of my favourite ones, as Jenny was talking to Murat, who was sat in the back with me. It was exciting, as we were driving to the unknown, in a way…and I do like road trips, even if it was only 20 minutes!

365: Day 39

12 Feb

On Wednesday, the boy and I went on a mini-road-trip. I had to get out of London, to go to a big event that the theatre group was involved with, and there was a mix up with cars (oh, the joys of car sharing with your mother), and I was left car-less. So, the boy, being an absolute sweetheart, decided that he would drive me there… The bonus of this, for both of us, was that along the way, we stopped off for food, and it just happened to be a Mac Donald’s! Fillet o’ Fish…come to meee…

I want to…travel…

14 Feb

For me, there’s nothing better than travelling. I love to visit new places and discover new things; there’s a whole world of experiences out there… Last night, the boy and I were talking about travelling and some of the places we’d like to go.

I’d love to go to New Zealand, but obviously this one will have to wait for a while, a few years at least, as it’ll be quite an expensive trip and it’d have to be about 2, 3 or even 4 weeks to make it worth it! I think the flights alone will probably be around £1000 or £2000, so yeah, this one will definitely have to wait…but when it does happen, I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait! Another travel plan is a cross-country trip of America; I’m quite envious of people who have done this! And after reading a bit of Stephen Fry in America, I feel even more curious about the vast country – as the boy said last night: “It’s strange to think that it’s hot on one side of the country and cold on the other, and whilst one side of the country is having their lunch, the other side is only just waking up.” In the UK, we have the same time zone…and the differences in temperature isn’t as wide as the difference in America! In London, it’s normally warmer than, say, Scotland… I’d really like to visit Salem, Washington DC, Seattle, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Baltimore…amongst more…and the trip will have to end in New York, of course! However, this trip will probably have to wait a few more years as well, probably at least 4 or 5 years yet…and there will be a LOT of research first so that we visit all the places we want to…I’m keen on making it a musical trip as well, as so many bands/musicians I love come from America, so it would be interesting to visit the places they come from… Also, after flicking through a magazine last night, I thought about Norway…that would be an interesting one…! So we may do Norway next year…and possibly Sweden too, we’ll see.

This year though, it’s hopefully going to be Barcelona and New York… At the moment, Barcelona is looking a bit 50:50 to be honest, due to money issues…so hopefully if we tighten our purse strings a bit more, we’ll be able to afford it! Originally, we were hoping to book the flights in January, but this didn’t happen…and now it looks as if we’ll be booking it all in April – flights and accommodation. 2 months before the trip should be okay, I hope! New York will be in December and I’m DETERMINED to make that one happen, as I’ve missed it ever since 2005 and it’ll be a big one for my Mum. This time, I WILL eat New York Cheesecake…oh yes…yum yum yum in my tum tum tum!

I don’t think I’m someone who needs too much materialistic stuff…I’d like to think I’m someone who prefers memories and experiences, hence why I love travelling so much I think. I have my parents to thank for this, as they are keen travellers too and they used to take my sister and I on family holidays in Europe from the word go…and in the UK too, normally Norfolk, which is why I love the place so much… I just feel lucky that I was exposed to other countries when I was young; it’s given me a big appreciation of other cultures and places now, as a young adult…

I’m yearning to be in another place right now…I think the next trip I’ll do is a day-trip to France…away we go…

Autumn is officially here, wahay!

11 Oct

Spent the weekend at my Gran’s in the country. Despite how little the little island called the UK is, we are lucky in that the scenery seems to change so much in different parts of the country. Being in the city, you sometimes feel disconnected from other parts of the country, and yet so connected at the same time. Train links mean that you can get from one end to the other is such a short space of time, well, unless it’s quicker to drive…or fly…but I’m not too keen on flying without a need to, if that makes sense?

This weekend has been great in terms of inspiration for the course I’m doing, got a lot of ideas but perhaps too many because both nights I was unable to get to sleep til after 3am…oh, the curse of being a writer! It’s been fun so far though, have mainly been doing a thing called “clustering” (like a spider diagram, with the middle word being your stimuli, and branching out from it with whatever words come to mind – like free-word association I guess…) and free-writing, which I’m enjoying because it’s a chance to just write without even thinking about it…or at least, that’s the aim but it’s hard to disconnect yourself from what you’re writing sometimes. Got a few bits and bobs that I may post on here soon, poems and the such.

Oh dear, think I’d better get going, the boy is pestering me to get off his laptop…and to be fair, I need to I guess, can’t be neglecting the poor thing now can we? I’ll post again soon, it feels as if I have so much to say at the moment…need to blog or I’ll just about explode with thoughts… Hope everyone else has had a good weekend, the weather wasn’t so bad in the end – bar Friday’s rain!

A milky cup of tea

8 Oct

The first thing I like to wake up to is a milky cup of tea. Always milky. With sugar. And preferably Earl Gray. That will do me just fine.

It feels like a cold morning today, despite the fact that the sunshine is shining outside. Oh, English weather can be strange sometimes. Maybe I should go and put some warm socks on because the tea is not keeping me warm just yet. A little fact for you – in India they drink tea to cool down, because apparently if you drink tea it’ll firstly warm you up and then it’ll make you cool down…maybe I should try that in a hot climate?! When we were in Spain in July, I was just drinking loads of chilled drinks…I’ll try tea next time.

There’s about a day and a half until the weekend… Going off to visit my Gran this weekend, the parents have some friends staying for two nights, so my sister and her partner have been kicked out of their room…and I’ve been designated to driver’s duty…I didn’t know that passing my driving test would mean I’d turn into a taxi driver. Maybe I should start charging for my services?

I’ve made a new page on here (yes, I do like my pages), entitled “Theatre”, so if you’re bored, have a look. It’s simply an unfinished list of all the theatre performances I’ve seen…in fact I may go and try to finish it now but it’s doubtful I’ll be able to finish it…it’d take ages! So it may take a few attempts before it’s done. If you’re a theatre fan, have a look and laugh at my favourites and boo if you must…? Leave a comment and tell me what you think, and perhaps recommend anything?

Now, I really must finish the cup of tea before it goes cold…

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside…

7 Oct

Oh, I do like to be beside the sea…

Went to the seaside yesterday, was a lovely day – I actually enjoyed the cold weather!! For some reason, I think I prefer the seaside in the autumn/winter rather than the summer. It seems as if in the summer, the beaches are PACKED, whereas when it’s colder, not many people seem to go, which means you can enjoy the beach…all to yourself…almost. Got some good photographs, they may find their way onto here…but I’ve still got plenty of photographs from the summer/September to put up… *sigh*

October, so far, has been good. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for my lovely boy. He’s been disliking his job all summer and keeps having bad days/weeks, and I don’t know how to cheer him up. He’s been thinking recently that he should pursue a degree (he was originally going to do a degree but after going along to an interview day, he got put off the idea and went into the world of work instead). Possibly in Architecture…he’s really good at maths so I suggested the idea to him and he seems to like it, it could be an interesting one. A writer/photographer/jewellery designer and an architect…we’ll be a funny pair! I hope he can find his path soon; maybe I should make him some cupcakes…? Multi-coloured ones of course.

Meant to be starting the course this week but have been busy so far so haven’t really had much of a chance to get going with it, I really should though. My big sister is now doing the same course and she’s already done a bit of work this week so I must catch up!! For some reason, since I went to Uni, I’ve been so unorganised…I really don’t understand it. Surely, if you go to work/university, you’d become MORE organised? Maybe it’s just me, I’m an abnormal one I think. I’m still thinking of making a photobook with my writings in it though, when I can find the time…

Didn’t feel the sand between my toes yesterday, next time I’ll take my shoes off and walk in the sand. I was wearing boots though, when it’s cold you do need to wrap up warm! The whole way there and back, I was listening to Bloc Party – old style, on my CD player. The three songs I’m obsessed with at the moment are: Blue Light, This Modern Love and So Here We Are. Yes. I love them. And Bloc Party of course! I’m going to see them with the boy this month, it’s Bloctober…and it’s meant to be their last tour before they take a break for a year or so, bad times! But Kele is publishing his written work, so at least that’s something to look forward to. I’ll take loads of photographs at the gig. And then hold out for the next one, whenever it may be.

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside…
