Get in touch with your Goofy Side.

22 Nov

You heard me right; get in touch with your Goofy Side! If you’ve been having a long day, and you’re not feeling it, well, now, just put on your favourite song/film/t.v programme/whatever-floats-your-boat, and let out your GOOFY side! I know I am; today I bought two pairs of massive joke glasses, the kind that are far too big for your face/eyes, so you just end up looking crazy! Tonight, I’m helping my friend get the first draft of her dissertation done…and so if she runs out of motivation, we are taking breaks and taking the time to be goofy! Nothing like a bit of goofy times to get you going again…

But I honestly think that it’s important to get in touch with your goofy side, or, your silly side, whatever you want to call it. If you can loosen up and have a bit of a giggle, well, what’s not to like about it? Sometimes we all get far too serious and caught up in work/school work/uni work/college work (delete where applicable), that we forget to take those moments for ourselves…and goofy wants some moments too, so don’t neglect goofy, or goofy will get sad. And we really don’t want goofy to get sad, now, do we? Embrace goofy, and love goofy, and your happiness will thank you for it – goofy and happiness are good friends, don’t cha know?!

So…here’s to goofy, raise your glasses, ladies and gentlemen, because goofy deserves it’s moment. And if you’re stuck on ways to be goofy…here’s a list.

Ways to get in touch with your Goofy Side

1 ♥ Buy some fun props from a joke shop – anything goes; wigs, over-sized glasses, prank items…

2 ♥ Buy some playdough and spend an afternoon/evening making pictures and/or scenes out of playdough – I did this a couple of years ago, and it was fun, took a picture too, so I’ll have to fork that out and post it.

3 ♥ Crank the music up and bust a crazy move; if possible, grab a friend and let them join in the fun.

4 ♥ Have a gurning contest – grab some friends/family, and let your faces go wild, and snap it with the camera too!

5 ♥ Don’t be afraid to be silly; when you let go, and relax, you’ll have much more fun. Go mad.

6 ♥ Collect fun/silly ornaments – today I bought some little pegs, with hearts and numbers on the hearts, which is really cute, but also useful for pegging on lists, so that I can work through the list according to what is most important.

7 ♥ Head on over to Color Me Katie – you’ll get buckets full of inspiration for goofy moments, trust me. Her blog/world is bright and colourful, just like her.

8 ♥ Make a scrapbook of all your goofy moments – collect photographs (the gurning contest photos are good ones) of your goofy moments, and all the memories, and you’ll have yourself a wonderful book full of inspiration on those not-so-hot days when you really need a bit of goofy in your life. Give it a try.

What do you think? Any goofy suggestions that would go well on this list? How do YOU get in touch with your Goofy Side? Hope you’ve all been having a very, very Happy Tuesday. Much love to you all.

Magical Memories

15 Nov

Memories that should be bottle up and kept in some lovely place, not that different from somewhere like Neverland. A place that no one can find, apart from you and perhaps the person or people you shared the memory with. I think we all have them. Memories that mean a lot to us, memories that we never want to forget. Whilst at Uni, I started a scrapbook that I entitled “Magical Memories” but it didn’t get much of a chance to be filled. Hopefully now that I’m home and I should have more time on my hands in about a week or so…it’ll be a chance to find all those scrapbooks I’ve started and have yet to fill/complete.

I really want to go to all these places that magical memories can be made…places like Paris, Brighton, NEW YORK, Barcelona, Lake Garda…places on my wish list. I’ve been to all that I’ve mentioned…and I’m off to the seaside tomorrow…PHOTOGRAPHIC OPPORTUNITIES. Some may be posted on here. And I’ve still got plenty from the summer that are yet to make an appearance on here (they’re a bit shy).

It’s slap, bang in the middle of November now. Christmas is on it’s way. The streets are lit up. It’s okay to start buying presents now. Now, before it all gets a bit hectic on the shopping streets in December! It’s going to be a tight one this year. But it should still be good. Tomorrow, I’m looking forward to seeing what the lights look like beside the sea. Oh yeah. I absolutely L-O-V-E going to the seaside in the winter. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I just love wrapping up warm, with a hot drink in hand, chips on lap, starring out to the sea…what could be better? Most of the beaches are deserted when it’s cold, so in my opinion, it’s the best time to go to the seaside. If you’re a nutter, like me.

This week is going to be a BUSY one. Yes, very busy indeed. But, for once, it’s all planned out. Tomorrow: seaside. Tuesday: London with the beloved theatre – ALL DAY, it’s going to be a long one! Wednesday-Friday: visiting Lizzie In Wonderland. Friday/Saturday: a close Uni friend is home = catchy uppy times, food times, drinks times, silly times…

Where do your magical memories come from…?

Chocolate cornflake cupcakes

19 Nov

Sorry about the slightly depressing poem I just posted…feeling a little down at the moment!

Monday wasn’t a very good day, what with out tutor having a go at us all…and then the series of things that happened after that! Yesterday went alright, but was incredibly tired – really must have an early night tonight, something I haven’t done for a long time…blame it on the student lifestyle! Today…well today isn’t going too well either! At the end of our lesson this morning we got another small lecture…I guess they really have it in for us this week!!

Just finished some group work, which didn’t go as well as I was hoping. For what is meant to be a “deaf aware” course…the two girls I just worked with hardly made any effort to include me! We were working on a small performance piece for monday, so we were using the stage lights etc…but there were many times when they just switched the lights off without any warning – like a blackout! It was only near the end when one of the girls started telling me when they were going to turn the lights off… They also didn’t turn on the overhead lights (the room lights I suppose) when they were talking, so they were either standing in the dark behind the stage lights (making it impossible to lipread) or standing on stage, where I was positioned too, but the stage lights were shining directly onto my face making it too hard to lipread!! Argh, sorry, having a little rant! They also talked amongst themselves, making no effort to include me in the conversation…I may be deaf but that doesn’t mean I have no conversational skills, bloody hell! Heck, I even have a brain…shock horror! Enough of this!

Therefore, this week hasn’t been the best so far. Hopefully tomorrow will be a new page…certainally the weekend! London here I come…ah I miss it so much…

Been listening to Razorlight’s new album a lot recently…loving it! Also reading “Heavier Than Heaven”, Kurt Cobain’s biography… Ooooh and I also made some chocolate cornflake cupcakes last night, nothing like a late night baking session to cheer you up, even if only momentary! Although, I didn’t really “bake” them…just melted a bar of cadbury’s milk chocolate…added it to a bowl of cornflakes and divided the mixture into paper cases… AND started a new scrapbook yesterday too – “Magical Memories”. Hopefully I can create some more good times soon to record in the book…

Now let me go and chase some stars.

This summer…so far…

30 Aug

Well it’s nearing the end of August now and I’ve been on my summer “holiday” since the end of June! Began the summer with Glastonbury Festival, which was, as always, AMAZING! First went to Glasto last summer with a friend, and we absolutely loved it, we’ve vowed to go every year (money permitting – I’ll be a poor student soon – and they sometimes skip a year to let the farm recover!). I finished my 2 year performing arts course with an overall grade of 2 distinctions and a merit, which meant that I got onto the course I want to do at university…

After Glastonbury, my boyfriend and I went for a week of camping in Norfolk, something we also did last summer too, and like Glasto, it’s something we want to try and do every summer – it’s so cheap that there’s no reason we can’t! Last year neither of us had a full driving license, so the only means of transport we had was either a bike or train, making it quite restricting in terms of days out. However, since we can both drive now we borrowed my mum’s car for the week! Some days we visited 2 or 3 different places – not bad considering we only visited about 4 or 5 places last year…

Then there was a long gap of summer days to fill up before Reading Festival (I do like my music!) last weekend. Although there were a lot of good bands playing, I felt that it wasn’t as good as last year’s festival, there were numerous bands that played that I love, whereas this year there weren’t as many so the weekend was more laid back compared to the rushing around last year to try and see as many bands as we could. Reading is much more about (mainly) rock music, which is my favourite genre of music, but I do prefer Glastonbury. There’s just always something going on at Glasto, there are so many stages and it’s not just music, there’s a circus and “green fields” where you can be inspired to try and change the world!! All in all, unless there’s an incredible line up at Reading next year, I’m not that fussed about going – Glastonbury is a must though.

That brings us up to date…going to visit a friend on Tuesday and staying over at her newly-acquired flat, along with my boyfriend. Her boyfriend is in a band (it feels a little funny saying that!) and so we’ll be going to see them play on Tuesday night, quite excited about it as I’ve heard so much about the band but have yet to see them play live! Lizzie (my friend) also lives with her boyfriend and another guy who’s in the band, so hopefully we’ll all get along ok, seeing as we’ll be staying in the flat with them! They’ve only just moved into the flat, as they’re in their second year of Uni now…I went shopping with Lizzie earlier in the month to get some “girlie” things to put in the flat, otherwise it would probably have been like a bachelor’s pad or something!

Also off to Cornwall for a week next weekend, really looking forward to it…it’ll be nice to get away in September, when it’s quieter and calmer.

I think I’ve rambled on about a lot of stuff that will probably be a little boring to anyone but me…well that’s pretty much how my summer has been going… I’m a fan of scrapbooking, and made (or have been attempting to make) a scrapbook for last summer, but I still haven’t finished it! I think I have one more trip to scrapbook about in it and then I can add the finishing touches. It’s put me off making a scrapbook for this summer though, I might just make a scrapbook of memories, days out, inspiration etc, it’ll be easier to make than a scrapbook of an entire summer. I usually start a project and never finish it, I need a lot of motivation to keep me going!

I’m a bit annoyed at the moment because I’m developing the beginnings of a cold/sore throat and I’ve already had one cold this summer! Plus it’s the “summer”!!! Nature works in mysterious ways… Hopefully I’ll be able to kick this cold in the ass – certainly before Tuesday…

Happy holidays…
